Meet OUR COACHES
Head Coach
Isaac Lopez
Isaac grew up wrestling in the Valley from a very young age. He attended Burlington Edison High School where he became a three time state finalist and a two time state champion. After graduating high school he attended Clackamas Community College helping them to win two national team titles. He finished off his career wrestling for South Eastern University in Florida. Isaac is back home to his roots and eager to give back to the community that began his passion for the sport.
Head Coach
Mason Phillips
Mason graduated from Stanwood High School with an undefeated highschool career. He was a 3 time state champion, 4x national champ, and cadet world team member. After high school he attended the University of North Carolina to continue his wrestling career.
Iron Maiden's Coach
Bodi Orton
Coach Bodi wrapped up a successful high school and all navy wrestling career in the late 90's and began his coaching career shortly after with a couple of seasons as an assistant coach for Rex Febus at MVHS before relaunching MV Pitbulls in 2007. He has coached year round since then, leaving MV Pitbulls in 2012 to coach with Tony Keller as assistant at Sedro-Woolley Steelclaw before founding MV Steelclaw with Tony as head coach and then transitioning to OWC as President of our board where he is still active with our female athletes through our Iron Maidens program. Coach Bodi finds joy in developing athletes from their first day of wrestling to their last, where they have found champion success from the pewee brackets all the way to the national stage at Fargo and Internationally. Coach Bodi became a WSWA National team coach in 2017 before assuming his current role as the WSWA Women's National team director.
Novice Head Coach
Jose Vaquero
Jose is a BEHS wrestling alum who learned under the guidance of Kirk Hamilton and Ryan Tesarik. He has been a head novice coach for the last couple of years for MVSC and is continuing his coaching career at OWC. Coach Jose has been an assistant coach for nearly a decade. Prior to being a novice coach, he helped assist coach with Sedro Woolley Steelclaw as well as the Mount Vernon Pitbulls. Coach Jose brings a fun and fundamentally sound approach to youth wrestling that builds a great foundation for his athletes.
Assistant Coach
Tony Farrington
Tony is an Orting Alumni. He was a 3x Washington state champion. 4x placer. 128-8 highschool record. Multiple time Washington freestyle and greco state champion. 2x freestyle and greco All-American. He also attended the university of Great Falls. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, trips to the dunes and traveling with is wife.

Derek Crouter
Derek is also a Skagit Valley Alum. He grew up in Sedro-Woolley where he became a 3 time state champion with a winning high school record of 130-11. He helped lead the Cubs to 4 state titles. Later he attended North Idaho College before moving back home and starting his family. You'll likely see one of his three kids (Kadence 12, Mason 8, Maddix 6) running around at tournaments or hanging out mat side.
